Cengelkoy
Cengelkoy is one of the most attractive districts of
Uskudar,which is placed between Vanikoy and
Beylerbeyi.Until 1960's Greek people were located in this
Bosphorus village.Today the traces of traditional
Bosphorus life can be recognized in Cengelkoy.It is one of the oldest and attractive locations on the
Asian side of
Istanbul for tourists with its enviroment and buildings.
Formerly ,like many other
Bosphorus districts,vegetables and fruits were being grown in Cengelkoy.The cucumber of Cengelkoy is very famous.Cherry and quince of Cengelkoy were very delicious once.Most Attractive and historical places at Cengelkoy are Aya Yorgi Greek church,which is rarely used today,Abdullah Aga mansion and Sadullah Pasa mansion.
There are many cafe and restaurants on the coast side of Cengelkoy.
